Wenger upgrades class-leading Grand Maitre® collection

January 1, 2009

The ever popular Wenger Grand Maitre® range of kitchen cutlery has been given an upgrade for the new decade, with the Swiss manufacturer’s stamp of quality a key fixture in the new design.

The range has been re-launched for 2010 with an aesthetic upgrade to its handles, providing the same great ergonomics and putting the brand’s famous Swiss cross logo in prime position.

Wenger CEO Peter Hug explained: “As Wenger continues to push hard to expand the brand we wanted to ensure one of our primary products, the Grand Maitre® cutlery collection, was brought into line. The upgrade reflects our commitment to the Wenger brand’s quality and also aims to demonstrate the class-leading properties that our high-quality stamped cutlery range provides to customers looking for excellent price to value.

Wenger has been famed for its Swibo® collection for almost 50 years and while that line is tailored for the professional meat handling business the Grand Maitre® range provides similar properties for discerning home and professional chefs. We make thousands of kitchen cutlery products every day and whatever the range, our commitment to quality through hand finishing is second to none. The prominent logo on the new Grand Maitre® range emphasises exactly that.”

Grand Maitre® products are manufactured in Delémont, Switzerland with the same world class stainless steel used to create the Swibo® cutlery range. The blades are cut out of special laminated sheets of stainless steel. This specific stamping procedure means they weigh less than their traditional kitchen cutlery equivalent, offering chefs more manoeuvrability and flexibility and reducing fatigue in everyday cooking.

The blades are tempered (heat-treated), grinded and sharpened through a precise and perfected set of manufacturing techniques to create a hard yet flexible corrosion-resistant product, with Wenger’s exclusive hand inspection and polishing ensuring premium long-lasting cutting quality. The injection moulded handles limit germ retention and deterioration and are shaped to maximise control and limit hand fatigue. The knives are dishwasher friendly making them the perfect kitchen tools for everyday use.
