Wenger innovations raise benchmark again

April 29, 2010

One of the long-standing benchmarks in cutlery for butchers, meat handlers and meat packers has been raised with the arrival of a new raft of innovations to Wenger’s Swibo® range.

The professional cutlery range, a long-standing lead product line from the maker of the Genuine Swiss Army Knife, is noted for durability and a design focus on safety and usability.

The innovations build on that long heritage, with Swibo Guard offering an extended finger guard for maximum protection when chopping and slicing and Swibo Grip providing a softer, more comfortable handle with significant additional grip even when wet. The manufacturer has also added Granton edges to its professional range for efficient slicing.

Wenger CEO Peter Hug said: “Our professional Swibo range has always lead the field through innovation and safety. It was the first to offer ergonomic injection moulded handles and the first to adopt the yellow colour associated with safety. The three new innovations continue with that trend and, we hope, will ensure the range continues to be the pacesetter for the meat handling industry.”

The new Swibo Grip range sees 11 new knives added to the current Swibo offering, each with the same hygienic, non-porous and non-slip properties found on the traditional range but with additional ergonomic improvements to reduce hand fatigue and a unique material that provides astonishing classleading grip when wet.

The Swibo Guard design can be found only on the 22cm and 25cm sticking knives and the 22cm and 26cm butcher knives, each carefully singled out as important for additional finger protection, while Granton edges have been added to the 22cm butcher’s knife and the flexible blade carving knife.
