Mike Horn's Pangaea Expedition

Mike HornDuring Mike Horn's expeditions across the world over the last 16 years, the native of South Africa, who has lived in Switzerland since 1994, has pushed the limits of physical and mental boundaries and achieved goals many people considered impossible, some of which include:

  • An 18-month manpowered circumnavigation of the world on the equator
  • A 2,000km/27-month solo circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle without motorized or dog transportation
  • A 6-month solo crossing of the South American continent, from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean swimming the entire length of the Amazon

Mike's latest adventure is the Pangaea Expedition, which will take him around the globe from 2008 - 2012. This expedition will serve as a powerful platform from which young adults can experience and explore the natural world in different regions all over the world through short missions (usually several weeks). These young explorers will learn about natural challenges, will attempt to find possible solutions, and above all, act swiftly to help change things for the better by taking Mike Horn’s message about ‘preserving our planet’ home, and sharing it with their family and peers.

Mike Horn’s “Young Explorers Program” (YEP) is part of the Pangaea Expedition. Moreover, it is its core element. Read more about Mike Horn's Young Explorer's Program.
