The success of the last edition has surpassed our all expectations: After the launch of the event’s documentary, it has achieved more than 1,400 hours of global television coverage, as it has been shown on hundreds of channels in over 160 countries around the world. Moreover, our website has been visited by people from more than 5,400 cities from 150 countries! After continuous success throughout the last nine years, now our focus is on the 10th anniversary of the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE in February 2012.

The team selection process for the anniversary race will be closed in the following weeks. In the first stage of team selection, which closed on July 31, 15 teams with athletes originating from 17 different countries were accepted: United States of America, Croatia, Finland, South Africa, Brazil, Austria, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Kazakhstan, Argentina, Czech Republic, New Zealand, France, United Kingdom, Germany and Chile.

For the anniversary edition of the race, there will be five more teams participating, making a total of 20 teams in 2012. For the moment, a waiting list of teams has been set up, but in the next few weeks, the last five teams will be chosen, favoring those from countries that are not represented yet.

Within those 5 additional teams, one entry slot will be secured, for the team winning the North American AR Championship (Checkpoint Tracker) in the category Coed Elite, to be held on October 21st.

To determine the team representing the host country Chile, a qualifying race has been created and over three days, from October 27th to 30th, this special selection will take place. The winner will be automatically chosen to participate in February.

Stjepan Pavicic, founder and race director of the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE, explains: “Throughout a decade we have established an event of global reach, unique and authentic, an event that stands for an extraordinary life experience for everyone involved, an event that is based around the interaction of humans and wild nature and that focuses on conservation of the environment. Since we started this project we have never stopped, and one after the other, nine consecutive editions of the race have taken place. Overcoming the great challenges of logistics and global communications has only been made possible by our commitment to continuous process improvement of all aspects relating to an event of this magnitude. In this process, Nómadas Outdoor Services has built and developed a strong team, multinational and multidisciplinary, whose character is determined by their high level of commitment; by their striving for excellence and especially by their passion for the wilderness. Our team adds up years of experience and works together for only one mission: the conservation of Chilean Patagonia. Right now, all our attention and energy is concentrated on the development of the 10th anniversary edition of the PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE; where we will surprise the world once again, as we face the wildest, most remote regions of Patagonia, going further south than ever before!”

The countdown has started, mark your calendars: February 2012, PATAGONIAN EXPEDITION RACE, The Last Wild Race.
